Get Out To Vote Campaign
Saturday, October 13th
12:00 – 3:00
Meet at Roots & Branches School

Harlem Park West Community Association needs your help with their Get Out To Vote Campaign. BUILD is planning to canvass the neighborhood on Saturday. BUILD has made it a priority to target Sandtown and Harlem Park due to LOW VOTER TURNOUT. According to our sources, voter turnout for Harlem Park improved by 5% in the 2016 election when compared to 2011, but we are far from where we need to be with regard to voter participation. During the last mayoral election, BUILD partnered with several West Baltimore community stakeholders and residents which resulted in the largest voter turnout ever seen in Sandtown-Winchester. To improve voter turnout in Harlem Park, we are partnering with BUILD on a strategic mission to turn out more voters.
The community walk-through will take place this Saturday, October 13, 2018 with BUILD Clergy leaders and residents from Harlem Park and Sandtown. We are expecting 100-150 BUILD leaders, organizers, and clergy to participate. We will break off into groups to maximize our efforts. Corey Brown from Urbanscapes is working on the map for the walk-through.
The intention is not to campaign for any candidates but to increase understanding of the importance of voting and awareness of the impact of the number of residents who vote on access to resources. Roots & Branches School will be the meeting place for this event. It would be great to have parents, staff and board members participate in this important campaign.

We hope many of our dads, granddads, uncles, brothers and cousins will join in this walk with students to school on Friday.

Baltimore City Public Schools
The influence of positive male role models lasts a lifetime, from generation to generation - as Montebello Elementary/ Middle School Principal Lorna Hanley and her dad know first-hand. We're encouraging dads, grandfathers, uncles, and all the male role models who make a difference in our young people's lives to join the Million Fathers March and walk a student to school on Friday, September 28.
